In June 2021, a WK 860075-G calibration wind tunnel was put into operation at Vaisala in Vantaa.
The wind tunnel has an open jet measuring section with a diameter of 600 mm and a length of 900 mm. The measuring range extends from 0.5 m/s up to 75 m/s (with modification up to 90 m/s possible). Calibration objects are, for example, cup anemometers, ultrasonic anemometers and comparable meteorological sensors.
For the calibration of ultrasonic anemometers, the wind tunnel is equipped with a turntable and a swivelling device (tilt), which makes it possible to approach the sensors from different angles in a defined manner.
The wind tunnel is driven by a high-performance radial fan with a power consumption of 110 kW.
